Building fabric generates electricity from moisture

Whilst very early days, this short demonstration [a little spooky] opens up some interesting possible futures.

Muscle mimic pulls electricity from wet surface – tech – 10 January 2013 – New Scientist.

As this technology approaches mainstream it could be developed into building cladding that generates electricity from the rain or the damp night air. If it reaches commerciality there may be a point where it also becomes a paint or spray on application, and may even reach a sybiosis with printable photovoltaics, generating electricty around the clock.
